Claro’s Relay Secretary is Lindsey Hensman. She is the person that co-ordinates and enters Claro teams in the major national Relay events.
British Orienteering’s three main annual Championships (the British, the Scottish and the JK) all have associated Relay Championships, and these relays are entered on a Club basis. There are also two team events that are independent of any individual competitions – the Harvester, which is an overnight race, and the Peter Palmer Relay for club Junior teams.
The calendar for 2012 kicks off with the JK http://www.scottish-orienteering.org/jk2012 in Perthshire over the Easter weekend. The Relays are on Easter Monday. Ten Claros are already entered for the Individual races
The British Champs http://www.boc2012.org.uk are in the South Lakes with the Individual races on 5 May and the Relays on Sunday 6th.
The Scottish Champs near Braemar are over the Jubilee Weekend at the beginning of June, with five events over four days – well worth the trip! The relays are on Sunday 3 June. http://www.scottish-orienteering.org/soc2012
The Harvester Relays have not yet found a ‘home’ for 2012, which considering Claro’s big night out last year at Sheffield is very disappointing, but perhaps some club will step forward to host it – watch this space!
Finally, the Peter Palmer Relays for Junior teams are on Sunday 9 September at Sutton Park near Birmingham.
And remember, you don’t have to have entered the Individual event to join a Claro team. Relays are a fun, sociable way to orienteer, and with the Club shelter to keep out any elements that there might be, its warm and dry as well!
If you want to run as part of a Claro team in any of these events, please let me know. Closing dates are often some weeks in advance of the race itself, so don’t leave it too late!
